Member Services

The Home Builders Association of Sumter - Clarendon represents homebuilders, trade contractors, suppliers and industry professionals and advocates for the building industry through legislative action, heightened standards and consumer awareness. From legislative advocacy, business networking and educational programs to money-saving benefits and an array of communication publications, you benefit from membership.

3 in 1: A Package Deal
When you join your local association, you automatically become a member of your state and national associations. Staff members on all three levels are available to help you with your professional needs. Joining the HBA means you have access to a wide variety of benefits and services.

Government and Regulatory Affairs
We help keep your business up and running through our involvement in government and regulatory agencies. Our members are given up-to-date information consistently, so you know what is going on locally, statewide, and nationally. This is the most important part of your membership.

Networking
Making connections is important in business and in life. Getting involved in a trade organization like HBA helps you develop the connections you may need in the industry. You will have plenty of networking opportunities at membership meetings, golf tournaments, seminars, and conventions, to name a few.

Educational Opportunities
From workshops to seminars, you will have an edge over your competitors and non-members by staying up-to-date on techniques, codes, standards, and many other areas of home building. You can even earn a Master Builder designation.

Insurance Programs
Becoming a member of the HBA means you are entitled to take advantage of our money-saving insurance programs available exclusively to our members. When you join, you will become eligible to participate in our Self Insurers Fund for workers compensation, which is owned by the participating members. The Fund is run by a board of HBA members, so you can rest assured knowing that every decision is in your best interest.

Advertising
Advertising opportunities are available to members on all levels - local, state, and national. Newsletters and magazines are distributed to the entire association membership.

Marketing Opportunities/Sponsorships
Sponsoring an association meeting or event is a great way to market your business. You can increase your visibility and your credibility while supporting the association.

Strength in Numbers
Uniting as one leads to great accomplishments and many good things for our industry. The association is part of many coalitions that were created to shape and secure the future of the home building industry.

Industry Publications
You will receive the Builder News Network and the Builder Journal, which are member-only publications. Both publications provide information on the latest technological advances and market trends related to the home building industry. You will also get the latest on regulatory changes and events.

Professional Image
Image is everything. It can make or break you. By joining the home builders association, you are making a statement to the industry, your peers, your customers, and to the community that you care. Membership in the association will set you apart from others.

Become a Sponsor
It is not always easy reaching out to home builders. They are almost always out of their office and on the job site. The HBA can make it easier for you to reach home builders through associate membership. Because the HBA serves as a key source of information for builders and because the HBA offers networking, advertising, and sponsorship opportunities, many suppliers to the housing industry have become associate members. Only through the HBA can you advertise in publications read by more than 6,400 members, or sponsor an event that will put your message in front of the most influential executives in the industry.

As compelling as our marketing opportunities are, there is much more to the HBA. When you support the HBA, you are supporting our lobbying efforts to represent the entire housing industry on the local, state, and national levels. The strong voice of our combined membership is needed to convince legislators of the dangers of restrictive laws that threaten to halt the growth of the home building industry, a vital component of a healthy American economy. The truth is, you can not afford not to join the association.
